Planting Churches in Argentina

Pinterest Challenge #2

To add to my recent post that has to do with the fabulous fall Pinterest Challenge over at Bower Power Blog, I decided to quickly add this post. I decided over 6 months ago that I wanted to paint something to hang in our bedroom after pinning this and getting a little inspiration:

Really what I love was the idea of wood being painted, written on, and hung as a piece of art. As I thought about what I wanted to make I realized song lyrics were really jumping out at me. Joe and I LOVE, I mean LOVE, Joshua Radin!!! If you haven't heard of him, trust me- go to itunes and buy all of his albums right now!
I decided to pick a song of his that we love and I came up with this

Here it is from the other side

I wrote it all and then painted in the words with some awesome paint pens I happened to find. However, because I tackeled this while in Argentina, and I was unable to find stencils, I had to handwrite it all and it took a loooong time! Also, because I was so distracted by handwriting it, I accidently forgot to write out the second verse of the song..oops! Oh well, I doubt any would have ever noticed. (Until now since I just told you).
Overall I'm really happy with it. I think next time I want to make something for the kids' room :-)

For those of you who aren't aware, there is an AMAZING website called Pinterest! My favorite part about it is that it allows you to keep tabs on all the cool stuff you run across while online and you can pin them on different boards. It's awesome. That's all I can say.
Anyway, take the super fabulous site and add my slight addiction to following DIY (do it yourself) bloggers, and you get...

This terriffic idea started and this month was lead by the following ladies:

Katie of Bower Power

Sherry of Young House Love

Ana of

Erin of House of Earnest

The first Pinterest Challenge: Summer addition was fun to watch as so many people were inspired to not only look for great things to recreate on Pinterest, but to actually get going and make something!
Now I have to confess that all of our traveling, living out of boxes and suitcases, and not having a steady place to call home has made it a bit difficult to do any DIY projects; mostly because we have no where to put them.
However, with all of that said, I was inspired to have some fancy pumpkins this year when I saw this pin!

Isn't it so pretty?!?

And now for the big reveal of my super fun, fancy pumpkins!!

I love the way they turned out!

And while the original idea was to use lace, I opted to use some pretty stockings instead.
Yes, I know I probably spent 5 minutes in total to complete this project (unless you count the time it took me to go to the store), but I think it's an amazing way to add some festive decore to the house. Not my house. My friend Erica's house. Either way, they're so pretty!

Winter ONEderland

We celebrated London's 1st birthday at grammy and poppy's house (my mom and dad). We felt so blessed to have a house full of family and friends to celebrate her special day with us!

It was so funny that when she was born, it was just us to welcome her into the world. Little did she realize that she had a whole group of people waiting to meet her!
We had a winter party. Being that her birthday is December 19th

(and will forever share my pain of a b-day close to Christmas),

I wanted to do something non-christmas for her first party.

I decided on vanilla cupcakes with cream cheese frosting. For snacks we had "snow tires", "cheese sleds", "celery skis" and other food with silly names. I have to say, for only being in the states for a week, it came together pretty well!

Here's the birthday girl enjoying her cake!

The girl got some CUTE new clothes (these were a special something from Auntie Lolo)

A BIG thanks to everyone who came and was a party of this special day with us! It really was such a blessing to see all of you while we were in town!!!
